MIAMI – Detroit Pistons coach Lawrence Frank was subdued. Not to the point his team was by the Miami Heat defense, mind you, which treated the Pistons like a cat toy.

AUBURN HILLS — Detroit Pistons guard Brandon Knight had a few words for center Greg Monroe, who had a few choicer words back. The final moments were ticking away in a game the Pistons trailed, and the core pieces of their rebuilding process had differing opinions on what just went wrong.

AUBURN HILLS – Detroit Pistons reserves Jonas Jerebko and Will Bynum provided the fourth-quarter spark in turning a close game through three quarters into a 102-95 victory over the injury-depleted Orlando Magic on Tuesday at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Jerebko broke a tie and gave the Pistons the lead for good with a 3-pointer to start his seven-point fourth quarter, and Bynum added all six of his points in the quarter – with all their scoring coming in the first eight minutes of the period – as Detroit pushed the lead to 13 with those two in the game. All 13 of those fourth-quarter points by the bench duo came in the first eight minutes.

AUBURN HILLS – Detroit Pistons forward Tayshaun Prince anticipated what’s coming when the team reconvenes Monday. Practice will be comprehensive, with the Orlando Magic, stung by an early-season loss here, visiting Tuesday. And there will be heavy film review of the Pistons’ successes, moreso than their miscues, in their most recent win

AUBURN HILLS – Detroit Pistons point guard Will Bynum has played a lot of roles this season, many of which he didn’t like. He played a new one Saturday night – closer. Bynum hit a 3-pointer to force overtime, then scored five points in the extra period as the Pistons rallied for a 110-107 win over the Charlotte Bobcats and avoided a loss to the NBA’s worst team

CBSSports.com wire reports March 26, 2012 WASHINGTON — With three minutes left in a game Pistons coach Lawrence Frank called “ugly, grimy, grindy” — and his team won, beating the Washington Wizards 79-77 — the aesthetic highlight, without a doubt, came when Detroit rookie Brandon Knight got drenched while hurdling over the team’s sideline seats in futile pursuit of a loose ball. Knight upended a jug of energy drink and about a dozen paper cups Monday night, spraying himself and some seated teammates. Play was delayed for a bit while Knight toweled off — and some of the evening’s most enthusiastic applause came in response to overhead video-board replays of his valiant and athletic effort

The Washington Wizards lost to the Detroit Pistons 79-77 on Monday night at Verizon Center — a game that was a stunning mirror image of their last two home losses. Once again, the Wizards built a double-digit lead — going up by as many 13 points in the fourth quarter — only to allow the Pistons to steadily chip away and climb back into the game. And, once again, the Wizards ‘ inability to close out games turned what should have been an easy win into a loss.
